FPS issue

Yo. need a bit of help, I've gone out a brought a new pc. Just installed tribes (kust's config) and fps was bloody horrible. Around 10-20fps, so i then redownloaded tribes and used a basic hudbot/10k config, And fps jumped up to around 40fps. which is still fairly terrible. I know i dont have the best video card its just an intel onboard with 256 shared memory. but i know for a fact this is more than enough being as though i use to play fine on a 64meg card...Updated drivers and all that im still having big issues....I JUST WANT TO DEFEND THE FLAG :( :( : ( : (

i should also mention that the pc came preloaded with vista and i installed tribes and it ran without a hitch, then downgraded to xp/linux dual boot and then this

are you running in OpenGL? have you got v-sync turned off?

I have vista and when i play with open GL i get like 8 FPS. So in the end ive been forced to play software.
